So let me tell you about me, my company and the trainer position.

My name is Chris Gray and I run a personal training, nutrition, and wellness coaching program at my facility called Breakthrough Personal Coaching & Wellness in Dover, Delaware.

My business is dedicated to helping women and men achieve their health and fitness goals through high level personal training, nutrition, education, accountability, support, and life coaching.

And business is booming!

I'm looking for a hard working, enthusiastic, motivated, and energetic person to start training some of our current group personal training sessions and boot camps.

I currently offer what has quickly become the future of fitness. Brief, intense and fun strength & conditioning training done in groups, boot camps, and nutrition counseling which educate, motivate and coach both women and men to improve their health and fitness at all levels. 

All clients begin with a year long coaching package, which includes nutrition counseling, nutritional supplements, strength and conditioning training, a cardiovascular training program, ongoing fitness assessments, weekly support meetings and much more.

If learning to train clients in real functional fitness using not only dumbbells and barbells, but kettlebells, sandbags, rocks, ropes, tires, heavy bags, suspension training, medicine balls and much more sounds like it might be fun then you’ve definitely come to the right place.

If you are hired for this position, you'll begin coaching clients at the training center (part-time) 1-3 days a week for 3–4 hours per shift to start (a.m. and p.m. hours available) Monday-Friday, and some Saturday’s.

You’ll be paid as an employee, (no independent contractors) and after a 90 day probationary period you will have the opportunity to move up, begin earning commissions, bonus’s, (and eventually) go full time if that's what you desire. My training center offers a casual, fun environment, quality equipment, a training system that flat out changes lives, and  the most amazing community you can imagine being a part of every day! Tasks You’ll Be Expected To Perform


1. Energize and Motivate: Elevate and empower clients through pre-designed strength & conditioning workouts. You will be given the freedom to develop your own style of connecting and motivating clients, within the framework of our already very successful system.


2. Demonstrate Proper Exercise Instruction: This is a huge one. I need you to be able to provide proper instruction, coaching and motivation during the group training session such that every client feels they are one-on-one with a personal trainer.  You should have a working knowledge of the human body (i.e. muscles, movements, functions, etc.), and understand why certain movements might be causing pain or discomfort and how to modify the movement so that client still accomplishes their goals.

3. Tracking Client Progress: In order to ensure a client's success in our programs, you'll need to track weekly progress, current successes and challenges, review client nutrition and exercise log worksheets and more on a weekly basis.  It will be your job to hold a client accountable to his/her health and fitness program to ensure the best results possible. 
4. Perform Fitness Assessment: Ideally, you'll have some fitness assessment skills and can test for: body composition, bodyweight, girth measurements, blood pressure, heart rate and various strength and flexibility tests.  You do not need previous experience, but if you do, that's a bonus.

5. Provide Ongoing Health & Fitness Education: Our clients rely on us to service all of their health and fitness needs.  It is your job as a fitness coach to provide your clients with health and fitness education on various topics that will empower them to lead healthy lives forever.  You'll be provided with educational tools and resources, expected to study them and speak about them with your clients. We also spend time covering this in our team meetings, and training.

Required Skills


These are the skills you must already have in order to qualify for this position:

  • Good communication skills. You will be talking with my clients, who are VERY important to me. You must be comfortable conversing in-person and on the phone, and know how to conduct yourself professionally and deliver clear instructions to the clients. I’ll teach you everything you need to do during a training session, but I can’t teach you manners and professionalism.
  • People skills and personality. You must LOVE working with people! As mentioned above you must be very comfortable working with people. This is an exciting studio and you must be able to show your clients energy and excitement while working with them
  • Health and fitness education:  You must have a recognized Personal Trainer or Instructor certification.

Bonus Skills


If you have these additional skills, your resume will go right to the top of the stack (but if you don’t have these skills, you should still apply because these are not mandatory).

  • Previous personal training experience (The more experience the better!)
  • Previous nutrition coaching experience (The more experience the better!)
  • StrongFirst or RKC kettlebell instructor certification
  • FMS certified
  • National certification or degree (NASM, Exercise Science, etc.)
  • CPR certified
